Instructional Leadership Academy:
Make Your Course More Rigorous and More Fun

This is a two-day compressed seminar/workshop on course design and management. Participants who meet the goals of this project will earn a $500 stipend for discretionary spending.  If enrollment exceeds available slots, qualified applicants will be accepted on a first-come-first served basis.

ITLAL is seeking full-time faculty members to take leadership in exploring, testing and adopting the latest best practices in undergraduate teaching and learning.  Whether you are teaching a large, medium or small class, you might wonder from time to time whether or not your students are reaching sufficiently high goals, and whether or not the teaching-learning experience overall could be more fun and energizing for both you and your students.  Areas of exploration include Timeline for participation

June-July 2009 Submit (electronically or by mail) course syllabus and other course materials to help staff in their preparation
August 10 & 12, 2009 Two-day seminar, 9 AM – 3PM, lunch included. There will be a substantive homework assignment to be done before the first meeting and between the two meetings.
August 21, 2009 Revised syllabus and other evidence due, showing the changes made for the course
August 24, 2009 Review of revised course materials to determine release of funds
Access to individual consultation as needed throughout Fall Semester 2009
